Run by the Sri Lankan Handicraft Board, a government institute promoting skills to produce traditional items for export. Laksala offers everything Sri Lanka can offer in wood carving, brass items, furniture, silver ware, leather, batik, spices, tea, books and cards. Other shops island wide, as well as a special furniture shop in Moratuwa. The state owned handicraft centre which offers local furniture in many designs. The furniture is also being sold in many of the other Laksala shops island wide.

Pettah

The Pettah could be best described as Colombo treasure chest. You will probably just find any item you are looking for here. The problem however is that Pettah is a maze of small streets with shops hidden in all corners. Many shops selling the same kind of items are concentrated in particular street. For instance, Sea Street is famous for its gold jewelry, Main Street for its textiles, Kazer Street for electronic items and Manning Market for vegetables and live stocks.
